Why Take Private Tennis Lessons with a FLAC Pro?
Whether you're picking up a tennis racquet for the first time, preparing for your high school season, getting ready for USTA league play, or simply trying to add more consistency to your game, private tennis lessons can help you make the most of your time on the court.
At Four Lakes Athletic Club, our tennis professionals work with players of all ages and skill levels on our six indoor tennis courts in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. From junior tennis lessons and youth development to adult tennis coaching and competitive tournament preparation, our pros can help you build a plan around your goals.
Why Choose Private Tennis Lessons?
Playing matches and hitting with friends are great ways to enjoy tennis, but sometimes you need an experienced coach to identify what is holding your game back.
A private tennis lesson gives you focused, one-on-one instruction designed around your needs.
Personalized Attention
Instead of following a general lesson plan, your FLAC tennis pro can focus on the specific areas of your game that need attention.
That might mean improving your:
Forehand or backhand
Serve
Volley
Footwork
Court positioning
Shot selection
Consistency
Match strategy
Mental approach
Doubles positioning
Your coach can adjust drills and instruction based on your current ability, learning style, and goals.
Immediate Feedback
Small technical adjustments can make a major difference in tennis.
During a private lesson, your coach can watch your movement and stroke mechanics, provide immediate feedback, and give you specific drills to reinforce what you're learning.
Rather than simply hitting more balls, you're working toward better-quality repetitions.
Build Confidence
Confidence comes from knowing what to do and having the skills to execute it.
Private tennis instruction provides a structured environment where you can ask questions, work through challenges, and develop stronger fundamentals without feeling like you have to keep up with an entire group.
For newer players, that can mean becoming comfortable with the basics.
For experienced players, it may mean developing the confidence to use a new shot or strategy during match play.
Train for Your Goals
Every player has a different reason for playing tennis.
You may want to:
Learn how to play tennis
Improve your recreational game
Prepare for high school tennis
Compete in USTA tournaments
Get ready for league play
Improve your doubles game
Develop more consistent strokes
Prepare for a specific opponent or tournament
Take your competitive game to the next level
Simply enjoy tennis more
Your private lessons can be built around your goal.
Private Tennis Lessons for Juniors
For young players, the right instruction can help establish good habits early while keeping tennis fun.
FLAC's junior tennis pathway uses age-appropriate instruction and low-compression tennis balls, including Foam, Red, Orange, and Green Ball progression. Junior program placement is based on both age and ability, with an evaluation used to determine the appropriate level.
Private lessons can complement junior group programming by giving players additional opportunities to work on specific skills.
Junior Players Can Work On:
Fundamental stroke development
Footwork and movement
Serve development
Rally consistency
Match strategy
Point construction
Tournament preparation
High school tennis preparation
Competitive development
Whether your child is just learning how to hold a racquet or already competing, individualized coaching can help reinforce the skills they're developing in group lessons and match play.
FLAC's junior tennis program is designed to support players progressing toward recreational, high school, USTA, and college-level tennis.
Private Tennis Lessons for Adults
It's never too late to improve your tennis game.
FLAC offers adult tennis opportunities for beginners through advanced players, including private instruction, group drills, leagues, and USTA teams.
Private adult tennis lessons can be especially helpful if you're:
A beginner: Learn the fundamentals in a comfortable, individualized setting.
Returning to tennis: Rebuild your strokes, movement, and confidence after time away from the game.
An intermediate player: Identify the parts of your game keeping you from the next level.
A league player: Prepare for USTA or club competition with focused technical and tactical instruction.
An advanced player: Fine-tune specific strokes, patterns, strategy, and match play.
Whether your goal is to win more league matches or simply feel more comfortable during your weekly doubles game, your coach can help you create a path forward.

More Than a Tennis Lesson
Private instruction doesn't have to exist on its own.
At Four Lakes Athletic Club, players can combine private lessons with junior tennis programming, adult drills, USTA leagues, tournaments, court time, and match play.
Adult tennis members receive member-rate access to private lessons, group lessons and drills, club and USTA leagues, tennis events, and court time. Junior Tennis Members enrolled in qualifying Level 4–7 programming receive member rates on classes, private lessons, and events, along with free court time while enrolled in session-based classes or match play.
That creates an opportunity to take what you learn during your lesson and put it into practice.
Learn. Practice. Compete. Repeat.
