When the temperatures drop, your fitness routine doesn’t have to slow down. Fall and winter in Wisconsin bring chilly mornings, icy sidewalks, and unpredictable weather, but at Four Lakes Athletic Club, you can keep moving comfortably indoors all season long.
Whether you’re warming up before strength training, adding low-impact movement to your day, building endurance, or simply looking for a consistent way to stay active, FLAC’s indoor track is ready for you!
Your Indoor Walking and Running Destination in Elkhorn, WI
Located inside Four Lakes Athletic Club, our indoor track offers members a convenient, weather-independent way to stay active throughout the colder months. Walk at your own pace, pick up the speed for a cardio session, or incorporate laps into your existing workout routine.
The best part? 12 laps around the track equal one mile! That makes it easy to set a goal, track your progress, and build consistency over time.
Looking for a few ways to incorporate the track into your routine?
Start your workout: Get your body moving before hitting the weights or attending a group fitness class.
Build your endurance: Gradually increase your distance or pace as your fitness improves.
Add movement to your day: A brisk walk can be a simple way to stay active, even when the weather outside isn't cooperating.
Keep your routine consistent: Don't let snow, rain, or freezing temperatures derail your plans.
Recover between workouts: Enjoy a comfortable walk on lighter training days while keeping your body moving.
You don't have to be a runner to enjoy the indoor track. Every lap counts, and your workout should fit your fitness level, goals, and comfort.
A Quick Refresher: Indoor Track Etiquette
Our indoor track is a shared space, and a few simple courtesies help everyone enjoy a safe, comfortable workout. Whether you're a daily walker or a first-time track user, please keep these guidelines in mind.
1. Keep Traffic Flowing Safely
Walkers stay to the right. Keep to the right side of the track to maintain a predictable flow of traffic.
Walking with a buddy? Leave enough room for other members to pass safely. Avoid walking side by side if you're blocking the track.
Runners and speed walkers have the right of way. Be aware of faster-moving members around you.
Announce when passing. Pass on the left, and slow down or pass cautiously when space is limited.
2. Stay Alert and Be Aware
Look both ways before crossing the track. Check for approaching walkers and runners before stepping into their path.
Pay attention to your surroundings. If you prefer walking backward as part of your routine, be especially cautious and make sure the path is clear.
Share the space. Stay aware of other members and adjust your pace or position when necessary.
3. Keep the Track Clear
Leave water bottles and swinging items off the track. Keep the walking and running lanes free of obstacles.
Store personal belongings in lockers or designated areas off the track. Bags, jackets, and other items shouldn't create tripping hazards.
Keep gathering areas clear. Please don't congregate outside the Group Fitness Room doors, where members need room to enter and exit.
A little awareness goes a long way. By following these guidelines, you're helping create a safer environment for everyone who uses the track.
