Halfway Through Session 1: How’s Your Game Going?
We’re already halfway through Session 1 of the indoor tennis season - which means it’s a great time to pause, check in, and ask yourself: How’s your game going?
Whether you’ve been on the court every week or your schedule hasn’t gone exactly as planned, the halfway point is an opportunity to reflect on where you started, recognize your progress, and think about where you want to go next.
Take a Look at Your Progress
Think back to the beginning of Session 1. What were you hoping to improve?
Maybe you wanted to build more consistency, develop a stronger serve, improve your footwork, gain confidence at the net, or simply get back on the court regularly.
Progress in tennis doesn’t always show up as a dramatic breakthrough. Sometimes it’s a rally that lasts a little longer, a shot that feels more natural, a better understanding of positioning, or simply feeling more comfortable and confident during play.
Give yourself credit for those small wins. They add up.
What’s Working - and What Isn’t?
The halfway point is also a good time to make adjustments.
Ask yourself:
What part of my game has improved?
What still feels challenging?
What do I want to work on during the second half of Session 1?
Am I getting enough time on the court?
Could a lesson, clinic, or additional practice help me reach my next goal?
You don’t have to completely change your approach. Sometimes one small adjustment can make a big difference.
Keep Going
The second half of a session is where consistency really matters.
Keep showing up. Keep practicing. Keep playing points. Keep asking questions. Keep working through the shots that don’t always cooperate.
And remember: you don’t have to be perfect to be progressing.
Tennis is a game of repetition, patience, problem-solving, and learning. Every time you step on the court, you have another opportunity to build your game.
Start Thinking About Session 2
While you’re focused on finishing Session 1 strong, it’s also worth looking ahead.
What would you like your game to look like by the start of Session 2?
Maybe there’s a new skill you want to develop. Maybe you’re ready to move into a more challenging class. Maybe your goal is simply to play more consistently and meet more people on the court.
Whatever your next step looks like, start planning and working now.
FLAC’s indoor tennis program is designed to give players opportunities to continue developing from session to session, with programming for a variety of ages and skill levels. Staying involved throughout the season can help you maintain momentum and continue building on the work you’ve already started.
