Cool Weather, Warm Up: Make the Most of FLAC’s Locker Rooms & Dry Sauna

As the temperature drops and outdoor tennis become a little less appealing, it’s a great time to make the most of everything your Four Lakes Athletic Club membership has to offer. From a convenient place to change and shower after your time on the court to a relaxing session in the dry sauna, our locker room amenities can be an easy way to add a little more comfort and recovery to your tennis routine.

Whether you’re wrapping up a tennis match, finishing a workout, or simply looking for a few quiet minutes to unwind, don’t overlook these amenities during your next visit.

Your Locker Room, Your Post-Tennis Reset

A good tennis session doesn’t have to end when you leave the tennis court. Build a simple post-tennis session routine that helps you transition from exercise to recovery and relaxation:

1. Cool down.
Take a few minutes to walk, stretch, or simply let your heart rate come down after you play.

2. Hydrate.
Drink water especially before heading into the sauna and after a challenging workout.

3. Clean up.
Head to the locker room, grab a shower, and refresh before heading home or back into your day. Shower towels are provided at the front desk - just ask!

4. Relax in the dry sauna.
Spend some time warming up and unwinding after you play. The dry sauna can be a particularly inviting part of your routine when the weather outside is cold.

5. Finish refreshed.
Cool down, hydrate again, get dressed, and head out feeling ready for whatever comes next.

Why Sauna Season Is the Best Season

There’s something especially appealing about stepping into a warm sauna when the weather outside is cold.

Our dry saunas provide a warm, quiet space to slow down after playing, relax your muscles, and enjoy a few minutes of uninterrupted downtime. You don’t have to make sauna use complicated - even incorporating a short session into your routine can give you a relaxing transition between your time on the court and the rest of your day.

And when Wisconsin weather starts bringing the cold, the contrast between outside temperatures and the warmth of the sauna makes it an especially enjoyable amenity to have right here at the club.

A Few Dry Sauna Etiquette Reminders

Help keep the sauna comfortable and enjoyable for everyone:

  • Keep your session respectful of others. The sauna is a shared space.

  • Remain clothed/Cover with a towel & use one to sit on for cleanliness and comfort.

  • Keep conversations quiet so others can relax.

  • Give everyone room and be mindful of personal space.

  • Keep the sauna clean and take all belongings with you when you leave.

  • Stay hydrated and listen to your body. If you feel uncomfortable, dizzy, or unwell, exit the sauna.

  • Please follow all posted sauna guidelines and club rules.

Locker Rooms & Daily-Use Lockers

There are men’s and women’s locker rooms are available for members, with daily-use lockers available for your convenience.

Bring your own lock if you plan to secure your belongings in a locker. Daily-use lockers are intended for your visit, so please take your belongings with you when you leave the club rather than leaving items behind.

Forgot something?

We have a Lost & Found located under the stairs for larger items. For smaller lost items, please check with the front desk.

Taking a few extra seconds to double-check your locker, tennis bag, gym bag, and workout area before leaving helps keep the club organized and makes it easier for everyone to find what they need.

A Note About the Women’s Locker Room

For cleaning and maintenance, the women’s locker room - bathroom, sauna, and showers - is closed weekdays from 1:00–1:45 PM.

During this cleaning period:

  • You may still use the lockers to store your belongings.

  • A family restroom is available as an alternative.

  • Please allow our staff the full cleaning window so we can keep the space clean and ready for members.

Make More of Your FLAC Membership

Your membership is more than access to the tennis courts. It includes the little conveniences that can make staying active easier - locker rooms, daily-use lockers, showers, towels, and dry saunas - all under one roof.

So as the weather gets cooler, consider making your FLAC routine a little more complete:

Then head back into the cold feeling refreshed and ready for the rest of your day.
