From everyone at Four Lakes Athletic Club, we wish our tennis community a safe, happy, and spooktacular Halloween! Whether you're spending the weekend on the courts, enjoying some seasonal treats, or celebrating with family and friends, we hope you have a fantastic end to October.
As we head into November, it's also time to reset our routines, embrace the changing seasons, and keep our tennis game strong!
Fall Back, Keep Your Game Moving
Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 1, so remember to set your clocks back one hour Saturday night. Enjoy that extra hour of rest - you've earned it!
With shorter days and colder temperatures arriving, keeping an active routine can take a little more planning. Fortunately, at Four Lakes Athletic Club, you don't have to let Wisconsin weather dictate your time on the court. Our six indoor tennis courts offer a place to keep playing, practicing, and improving throughout the fall and winter.
Whether you're working on your serve, sharpening your footwork, building match confidence, or simply enjoying time with your doubles partners, there's no reason to let your game go into hibernation.
Don't Let Your Tennis Game Freeze Over
The colder months can make it tempting to slow down, but fall and winter are excellent opportunities to build the skills that will pay off when outdoor tennis returns.
Here's how to keep your momentum going:
Stay consistent. Regular court time helps maintain your timing, rhythm, and confidence.
Work on your weaknesses. Use the indoor season to focus on the shots, footwork, and strategies you'd like to improve.
Keep moving. Complement your time on the court with strength training, cardio, and mobility work to support your overall game.
Connect with your tennis community. Schedule a match, find a hitting partner, or enjoy a friendly doubles session to keep things fun and competitive.
Make time for recovery. Rest, stretching, and recovery are important parts of staying healthy and ready for your next match.
You don't have to overhaul your entire routine to make progress. A little consistency throughout the winter can make a big difference in how you feel when you step onto the court.
Enjoy the Holidays. Keep Your Momentum.
Between holiday gatherings, travel, shopping, and family commitments, November and December can fill up quickly. Your tennis schedule might need some flexibility, and that's perfectly fine.
The goal isn't to play every day or spend every free moment training. It's to stay connected to the sport you love, make movement a priority, and find opportunities to play when your schedule allows.
Think of indoor tennis season as an opportunity to invest in your game. Every practice, match, and training session is a chance to build confidence, improve your consistency, and enjoy the competition that makes tennis so rewarding.
And remember, you don't need to wait until January to set new goals. Start now, build good habits, and carry that progress into the new year.
