The Athletic Club Advantage: Going Beyond the Fitness Floor & Exploring Tennis at FLAC
If you’re a fitness member at Four Lakes Athletic Club, you already have access to more than a great place to work out. FLAC is a full athletic club built around fitness, tennis, recovery, and community - and one of the best ways to make the most of your membership is to step beyond the fitness floor and onto the tennis court.
Whether you’ve never picked up a racquet, haven’t played since high school, or already consider yourself a tennis player, FLAC tennis offers opportunities for every experience level.
And the best part? You don’t have to commit to becoming a competitive tennis player to give it a try.
Tennis Is More Accessible Than You Think
One of the biggest misconceptions about tennis is that you need to already know how to play before you step onto a court.
You don’t.
FLAC has six indoor, air-conditioned tennis courts, giving members the opportunity to play tennis year-round - regardless of Wisconsin weather.
Want to hit a few balls with a friend? Book court time.
Want to learn the basics? Schedule a private lesson.
Want to join a program and meet other players? Explore our indoor tennis programming.
Want to eventually compete in tournaments? Our tennis professionals can help you understand the pathway.
There are plenty of ways to get started!
Book a Court and Give It a Try
You don't need to join a league or sign up for a long-term program to experience tennis at FLAC.
Members can book court time any time for $25 per hour.
Even better, that cost can be split among the players on the court.
For example, if four players share a one-hour court reservation, the court cost is just $6.25 per person.
Bring your own racquet if you have one, but don't worry if you don't. FLAC has racquets available to loan out, making it easier to give tennis a try without purchasing equipment first.
Grab a friend, family member, fellow FLAC member, or someone from your workout circle and get on the court.
You may discover a new favorite way to move.
New to Tennis? Start With a Private Lesson
If the thought of walking onto a tennis court feels a little intimidating, you're not alone.
A private lesson with one of FLAC's tennis professionals can be an excellent way to get comfortable before playing with others.
A lesson can help you:
Learn how to properly use a tennis racquet
Understand the basics of tennis technique
Become comfortable moving around the court
Learn what areas of your game to work on
Build confidence before playing with others
Develop a foundation for future tennis play
Get answers to your questions in a one-on-one setting
You can book a private lesson with any of our FLAC tennis pros and work at a pace that makes sense for you.
You don't need to arrive knowing what you need to improve. That's part of what your tennis professional is there to help you figure out.
Join FLAC's 2026–27 Indoor Tennis Season
We're currently in Session 1 of FLAC's 2026–27 indoor tennis season, but it's not necessarily too late to get involved.
Certain programs are still available, and members may be able to join at a prorated cost depending on the program and availability.
Our indoor tennis programming provides a more structured way to develop your skills, establish a routine, and meet other players.
For fitness members who haven't explored tennis before, joining a program can also provide something that a solo workout sometimes can't: built-in community and accountability.
You show up. You play. You learn. You meet people.
And over time, you become part of another community within FLAC.
Tennis Is a Workout, Too
If you primarily think of FLAC as the place where you lift weights, use the cardio equipment, or attend group fitness classes, tennis gives you another way to challenge your body.
Tennis combines movement, coordination, agility, balance, reaction time, and cardiovascular activity. You're constantly changing direction, tracking the ball, adjusting your positioning, and responding to what's happening on the other side of the net.
It's exercise - but it doesn't always feel like exercise.
That's one of the advantages of having multiple ways to be active under one roof.
You might strength train one day, take a group fitness class another day, and play tennis with a friend later in the week.
Your fitness routine doesn't have to look the same every day.
Build Your FLAC Community Beyond Your Workout
One of the greatest benefits of exploring a new activity is the opportunity to meet people you might not otherwise encounter.
You may have spent months working out alongside someone without ever speaking to them. Put the two of you on a tennis court, and suddenly you have something to do together while having conversation.
Tennis can create new connections through:
Court time with other members
Tennis lessons
Group tennis programs
Adult leagues
Social play
Junior and family tennis
USTA teams and tournaments
Tennis events at FLAC
For many members, that's an important part of the athletic club experience.
You're not just coming to work out. You're becoming part of a community.
From Your First Rally to Tennis Tournaments
Maybe you're simply looking for something new.
Or maybe you've always wanted to play competitive tennis.
FLAC can help you explore that next step, too.
As your skills develop, you can work with our tennis professionals to determine what you should focus on and how to continue progressing. For players interested in competition, FLAC offers opportunities connected to USTA teams, tournaments, and competitive tennis development.
FLAC hosts USTA tournaments throughout the year, and our tennis programming includes pathways for players who want to develop their skills and eventually compete.
You don't have to start with a tournament.
Start with a racquet.
Then a lesson.
Then a few rallies.
Then a match.
Your next step can be determined as you gain experience and confidence.
You Don't Have to Choose Between Fitness and Tennis
The Athletic Club Advantage isn't about choosing between the weight room and the tennis court.
It's about having more ways to pursue an active lifestyle in one place.
At FLAC, your membership can give you access to a broader athletic experience that includes:
Fitness - Strength training, cardio, functional fitness, group fitness, and more.
Tennis - Six indoor, air-conditioned courts, court reservations, lessons, programs, leagues, and competitive opportunities.
Recovery & Mobility - Opportunities to support how you move, recover, and feel.
Community - A place to connect with people who share your interest in being active.
The more you explore, the more you can get from your membership.
