Stronger Beyond the Gym: Fitness Goals That Go With You
What are you working toward?
Maybe your goal is to feel stronger. Maybe you want more energy, better balance, improved endurance, or simply to feel more confident in your everyday life. Or maybe you have a very specific milestone in mind.
At Four Lakes Athletic Club, we believe some of the best fitness goals have very little to do with what happens inside the gym.
Fitness can help you feel stronger for everything beyond the gym.
Your Goal Is Bigger Than a Workout
A workout is one part of the process. The real reward is what that fitness allows you to do outside of your time at FLAC.
Over the years, our members have worked toward all kinds of personal goals.
We've had members training to feel confident fitting into an old uniform for their daughter's wedding. We've helped members prepare their bodies for endurance challenges like a marathon. We've seen members build strength, coordination and confidence while training for Special Olympics competition.
Those goals are all different - but they have something important in common…
There is a reason behind the work.
When you have a goal that matters to you, your workouts become more than checking a box on your calendar. Each strength session, cardio workout, group fitness class or training session becomes another step toward something meaningful.
Fitness for Real Life
Your fitness goals don't have to involve a race, competition or major event, either.
Maybe you want to:
Keep up with your kids or grandkids
Have more energy throughout your day
Feel stronger carrying groceries, climbing stairs or doing yard work
Improve your balance and mobility
Get back to an activity you love
Build confidence after time away from exercise
Prepare for a vacation or outdoor adventure
Maintain your independence as you get older
Improve your performance in another sport
Simply feel better in your everyday life
There is no "right" fitness goal.
The right goal is the one that matters to you.
You Don't Have to Figure It Out Alone
Knowing what you want to accomplish is one thing. Knowing how to get there is another.
That's where personal training can make a difference.
At Four Lakes Athletic Club, personal training provides an opportunity to work with a fitness professional who can help turn your goal into a realistic plan. Whether you're starting from scratch, returning to exercise, working toward a specific event or trying to take your fitness to the next level, individualized guidance can help you train with greater purpose.
Your trainer can help you identify where you are now, determine what you need to work on and create a path that fits your goals and abilities.
And sometimes, having someone in your corner is exactly what you need to stay accountable.
Your Goal Might Change. That's OK.
Fitness isn't always a straight line.
The goal you start with may change as you get stronger. You may discover a new activity you love. You may reach a milestone and decide you're ready to set a new one.
That's part of the journey.
What matters is continuing to give yourself something to work toward - and recognizing the progress you make along the way!
So, What Are You Working Toward?
Maybe your goal is a big one.
Maybe it's something small and personal that no one else even knows about.
Either way, your fitness journey is about more than what you can lift, how far you can run, or how many workouts you complete.
It's about becoming stronger for the life you want to live.
So we'll ask you:
